I'm not a professional movie reviewer. I'm just a guy that is tired of spending $35 for two tickets, two cokes and a bucket of popcorn… and wind up with something completely different than what I was going for.
This is my personal take on "District 9"
Reviews from the 'professional reviewers" say "Technically brilliant and emotionally wrenching, District 9 has action, imagination, and all the elements of a thoroughly entertaining science-fiction classic." But then, they get PAID to review the movies...rather thatn pay to SEE the movie. All I know is that NONE of the 5 people I asked leaving the theatre liked it. It wasn't what we were expecting... but This review http://www.moviesonline.ca/movie_review_detail.php?id=13695 explains why that is. The marketers had two different groups they were trying to attract. My question is Why do I have to research to find this out... it's a movie. I want to be entertained by a movie. If I want to see biased, fact twisting, but gut wrenching commentaries about the moral/ ethcial issues ripping at the moral fiber of our society from the viewpoint of a person taking advantage of the very system that allows them to exercise those freedoms... I'd just go see a Michael Moore 'docu-drivel'.
