She Follows Me, She Follows Me Not

Project: Decide on the right process to decide on a 'Following' Policy on Twitter. Description: Research Twitter following techniques and decide on one. Project Goals: Determine the best policy when it comes to following Twitter users and write an Area 51 report concerning it. Results : I found a beacon of light in an otherwise bleak landscape. @lisamariadias I think you are GREAT! After closing my Twitter account about a year ago, I re-registered a few accounts a couple of months back and have slowly been digesting and declining the avalanche of users that have been offering to follow me… in return for my following them. I've even been followiing @GuyKawasaki for a month trying to determine the best policy of following. Guy says follow everybody and everybody follow him. That's just not for me. I actually like to READ the tweets, and I actually write my own tweets. That's apparently an outdated concept according to Guy. After Guy posted some l

Setting up RSS feeds in Joomla using Labels in Blogger

Project: Setting up individual RSS feeds using Labels Description: A project to allow me to use content from a Blogger site, filtered by Labels, to provide specific content for other websites. Project Goals: Upload a blog entry on Blogger and display on more than one site using Labels to make the content specific to the content of the webpage on a Joomla site. I wanted to be able to create an RSS feed using Labels on Blogger so that I could create content for a few Joomla sites and only have to enter the article/content once. Feedburner is easy enough to use, but it has no easy mechanism to accomplish this. The reason I would want to do this is so that some readers might want to subscribe only for topics under a specific Label. I found out I could do this by using the following url on my SurfinWithStan.com Blogger based site. http://www.surfinwith.com/feeds/posts/default/-/LabelName Once I do that, all I have to do is burn the feed using Feedburner and then enter that i

How do I remove a page from Google?

Project: How do I remove a page from Google? Company Name : Sales Training And Networking Contact: Stan Bush Contact Phone: (478) 227-4736 or (478) 227-4SEO Contact Email : stan-nospam@salestrainingandnetworking.com Contact Twitter : http://www.twitter.com/stanbush Contact Facebook : http://profile.to/stanbush Description: I wrote an article called " How to Write Your Google Profile ". I mistakenly submitted it twice to my Blogger account " Surfin With Stan ". When I realized it, I deleted one of the post…and guess what? The posts were coming up number one and two in the Google results. Since I had deleted one of them, this meant that it was giving a 404 error whenever someone clicked the link. Although they could click back to the results, and hit the second results to find the page, I didn't think this would be the best solution. Goals for this project: Remove the missing URL from Google without suffering a loss of page position. 10 points: Start with the e

How to write your Google Profile

Image
What is a Google Profile? Do you want to increase your visibility using whatever means are available to you on the Internet? If the answer is yes, then please read on. If it is no, hit the back button. If it is maybe, go  here   until you decide. I decided that I DID want to be found, but the problem was I share a name with a guy that is a Grammy winning songwriter. A formidable hurdle you might say, but I say "That ain't no hill for a climber." As you might have guessed, I've figured out how to get found anyway. Google profiles are connected to all of your Google accounts. The information can be shared between Blogger, Analytics, YouTube and probably all of the Google Apps. Then click on +YourName, scroll over the dropdown menu on the left hand side and click profile. Your Name You can change y

Google Voice - What is it?

I got signed up for my Google Voice account today and immediately received the following email : "Welcome to Google Voice! Google Voice gives you a single phone number that rings all your phones, saves your voicemail online, and transcribes your voicemail to text. Other cool features include the ability to listen in on messages while they are being left and the ability to make low cost international calls. To start enjoying Google Voice, just give out your Google Voice number. You can record custom greetings for your favorite callers or block annoying callers by marking them as SPAM. Just click on the settings link at the top of your inbox. We hope you enjoy Google Voice. 00:28" I'm brand spanking new at it so I'm trying to figure out "What does that mean?"… so I decide to call my phone number…and purposely not pick up. What happened with that call was very useful, highly technical, and extremely cool. I got an email that said 'Hello, Stan, Hello'.
